The Salpaus Education Center provides training in the Finnish language and culture. The goal of the language training is to learn everyday vocabulary and sentences. The course is twice a week with some homework and distance learning tasks.

Who are you and where do you come from?
I am Maranda Esterhuizen and I am from South Africa.
Where do you work?
I work as a natural scientist university lecturer at the University of Helsinki in Lahti.
What was the primary reason for applying for the course?
I wanted to learn more about Finland and its culture.
Where did you learn about the course?
I came to Salpaus and asked Information desk.
Why did you pick the Finnish course at Salpaus?
My colleagues recommend that I try Salpaus.
How long have you been studying at Salpaus?
I have studied Finnish here for one and a half years part-time.
How many students are in your group and is the group size good?
I think we have ten students in our group. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Group size suits me.
Would you recommend the Evening Course at Salpaus?
Yes, I Would.
Have your Finnish language skills improved?
That’s a hard question! I’d like to think so that my skill have improved.
What is the atmosphere in the group on?
Very positive! We enjoy spending time together and learning.
What kind of exercises do you like most?
Reading and Understanding and Grammar. Basically all.
What is your goal for the Finnish language?
I want to pass the Finnish language proficiency test.
